Changes

Well, you heard it here first.  I cut my hair.  Drastically different.  The stylist did it just the way I asked.  It is quite startling to see a stranger staring back at me in the mirror.  I am no longer a "mom haircut" lady.  I am now a "mom-trying-to-look-like-a-funky-artist haircut" lady.  Great!

Did you know that next Saturday is National Card Making day?  It is true.  What will you do to celebrate?  My card class is the next Saturday.  I will celebrate then.  Creative Cards Recipe number 2.  Call Scribbles and Scraps to sign up.

Two weeks until Memory Trends.  I cannot wait!  I have seen some of the sneak peeks, and "wow!"  I hope to be able to share these with you soon.

I am trying to figure out how to post a calendar to post my schedule, in case anyone is interested.   I will be in Spartanburg in November.  and the first Saturday in December is a big pubster crop!  I cannot wait.  It is going to be so much fun.  RSVP'ing has already begun.

It is good to be the Queen

Yes.  There are good things all around.

Friday night.  Good.  My Creative Cards class turned out great.  Those ladies were crazy.  They are welcome to come play with me any day of the week.  Some serious FUN!

  If you wanted to take the class, but were unable to attend, I have some good news.  Scribbles and Scraps has some class kits available for purchase.  They also have some card kits that we made up in the store too!   

More good.  The designer gallery showcase hosted by DesignerZine is exceeding my expectations.  This is such a great opportunity for me as a designer and writer. 

and the other good news items, I am not at liberty to share at this time.  but all good.

As I survey my little kingdom, I say, it is good to the Queen.  I am very blessed.

D-Day

Today is the day!  I am teaching a class that I am so excited about at our local scrapbook store, Scribbles and Scraps.  Tonight we have our first class in our series for the Creative Cardmaking class.  Any student that successfully completes the six classes will receive a certificate.  They will then be a "Master Cardmaker."

It is going to be so much fun.  I love the project we are working on tonight.   There is a rumor that we have a full house.  It is always fun to have a crowd.  I just hope I bring enough chocolate for everyone!

You wouldn't believe my day

Do you ever wonder what people with non-traditional jobs do all day?  Well, if I told you, you would not even believe it.  Really.

• Made cookies and breakfast. 
• Baked banana nut muffins.  These had to be made sans dairy and egg. and not only taste good, but look appealling to little picky eaters. 
• Went to park to sign up for permission to walk early in the morning and enjoyed museum.
• Went to Kindermusik.  No, the time changed.  So 20 minutes of convincing (trying to convince) my two year old to get in the car and that we would return to music class in one hour.  This is why I am not in sales.  Ugh!  Double ugh!
• Went to health food store for quick trip.  well, not so quick because the two year old would not leave without a scene.  Even with promises of music class.
• Kindermusik class. 
• Made lunch.  Tried to convince two year old to eat something other than cookies or goldfish for lunch.
• Attempt to get two year old to nap.  Unsuccessful.
• Sang song to Meemee, our head children's librarian, on the phone.  She was looking for the words to a Children's song for Wee Reads.  I am very flattered and surprised that she called me of all people.  It made me laugh.
• Consulted with business man about financial statement of company looking to buy.  ~while in the carpool line via car phone with "The Muffin Man" wafting through the car from our Kindermusik tape.
• While on phone detailed car with baby wipe while in carpool line.
• Two year old now asleep in car.  Afternoon errands and appointments  rescheduled for tomorrow.
• Attempt to answer e-mails from the day.
• Reviewed calls.   Noted that I need to rearrange my schedule to review calls on a different day.
• Snacked and juiced children (still in the car).
• Changed kids for ballet in the car.
• Cooked dinner.
• Homework.  Read through the daily folder.  18 pages.  yes. 18 for kindergarten.  What will second grade have in store?!
• Got ready for picture day tomorrow.  Ironed my chcice, a smocked dress.  then ironed her choice, a red dress not picked out by her mother.  Yes, it starts this early.
• Cleaned up.  Make a path from my bed to the front door in case of fire.  (I was a Girl Scout, so I am always prepared.  or was that Boy Scouts?)
• Submitted work and projects to calls.  Answered all remaining correspondence.
• Wrote quick article for assignment.
• Worked on insurance EOBs, bills and reimbursements. 
• Blogged.
• Went to sleep.

Personally I am totally flipping over Basic Grey's magnetic snaps.  I have not heard much buzz on that, which really surprises me.  I still love my rub ons, mostly white ones.

Run, don't walk

There are a limited number of seats left for my Creative Cards class at Scribbles and Scraps on Friday, September 22 at 6:30pm.  This class will be a series of six classes.  Learn how to take a card recipe using different ingredients to create different looks for your cards.  In this month's class, you will create a card using the following ingredients: American Crafts paper and ribbon Heidi Swapp and Lil Davis embellishments.  You can take this same basic design and create a shabby-styled card using different ingredients like paper from Crate Paper with 7gypsies embellishments.  Or an elegant Christmas card using Basic Grey's Blitzen paper.  The possibilities are endless.

Each of the six classes in the card making class series will feature a different recipe to follow.  By the end of the series, you will have a beautiful collection of cards to keep for yourself or to give as a gift to a loved one.

A girl and her 2 page layout. a love story

This is a true story about a girl, and her 2 page layout (her first love)

I have been doing the one photo one page thing and loving it. But decided to try to do a two pager again. It was more difficult to accomplish than I anticipated. At first, the page came together rather quickly. Then there was something just not right. I wasn't thrilled with the page, but could not quite put my finger on it. So I laid it to the side and went to bed.

A few days past, but I could not find my way back to my work. Finally, I came back to see what could be done to "fix" this layout. Lo and behold, someone fixed it for me. My 2 year old. It was the perfect solution. She rearranged my pages. Page 2 was now on the left. and page 1 was now page two. Brilliant! Now I simply love it!
