Weblog Slacker

If weblog is now the word "blog," then a Blog Slacker is a "blacker?"  Well, I have been incredibly slack lately.  My sincerest apologies.  but this thing called real life has been very time consuming lately.  I am happy to report that I am 2 items away from being done with Christmas shopping.  However, I need to really get going on my "Christmas creating."     This is all of my crafting that I do for friends.   Some new patterns I am tinkering with.   I am not sure you know but as well as papercrafts, I find crocheting and knitting highly addictive.  I love yarn.  And today there are so many choices.

Happy creating, friends.  In the words of Arnold, "I'll be back."

Sweet Peeks from Memory Trends

Memory Trends is a trade show for scrapbooking.   There were some really cute releases this time.  I thought I would share them with you.

Basic Grey has a few cute lines that they introduced.  I am flipping over the Fruitcake line.  It is Christmas-themed, and get this, double sided paper!  Yeah!  It is about time Basic Grey.  Their high quality paper is scrapbooker's favorite choice.  Also released is a companion line to their popular Blitzen line. 

But the big buzz in about the Blush line for Valentines Day.  Don't you love it!  Check out their website for new layouts and projects featuring these new lines.

As you know, my favorite patterned paper is Crate Paper.   Here is an adorable layout called "Emily" by Jackie Pettit.   Jackie used some of that great Cowgirl line paper. Love the color pallette.  Thanks to Jackie for granting me permission to share it with you.  Jackie is a professional designer who created this for Memory Trends for the manufacturer, Crate Paper.  Such a well designed layout.  Beautiful work.

Another cool Crate Paper siting is this project of flowers handcrafted from Crate Paper as found on their website under projects.  Clever!  Just wait until you see their Christmas line of papers!  Yummy!

Personal Best

Tonight was the best class.  The best students.  The best projects.  Just the Best.  Tonight I made some new friends in my Creative Cardmaking class.  We laughed, we glued, we drilled.  It was special.  The ladies did a great job on their cards.  They really booked it to complete the three cards we did. In all honesty, I think I crammed too many techniques in one class.  And did I mention, it was supposed to be a beginner's class?  Oops.  But everyone kept up and had a great time. We remembered the "Sudie rules of crafting conduct."  "Fun is good."

Oh, and great brownies.  You cannot beat that.    The only bad thing is that I forgot to take any pictures.  Thanks to the Melissas for letting us play.

Fun is good!

I think this is my new Mantra.  "Fun is Good."  I am really excited about the projects in my Creative Cardmaking class, "Creative Cardmaking: The Master Recipe series  Recipe #2."  I just showed the scrapbook store and some of their customers, and they liked them! 

Here's the details:

Come have fun and learn how to create cards using a master recipe (sketch). In this one and a half hour class for beginners, you will create three adorable cards (birthday, just because, Halloween) for $15. All supplies included. Just bring scissors and adhesive. Memory Trends is coming

October 10-12 in Las Vegas.  The self-proclaimed World's leading scrapbook and papercraft event.  For those who don't know, this is a trade show primarily for scrapbooking, as opposed to its counterpart CHA which includes all crafts and hobbies.  (Footnote:Memory Trends (MT) is owned by Primedia who also owns Creating Keepsakes.  Announced 9/26/06, Enthusiastic Media LLC [affiliated with Sandler Capital Management] has acquired substantially all of the assets of the Crafts Group from Primedia.)

Sneak peeks and rumors are afoot.  Basic Grey has the most buzz generated with some new lines.  Supposedly the BEST Valentine's line yet.  (gasp!) Technique Tuesday has some new cool stuff too.   I cannot wait to share what I know!
