or should it be "when pigs fly?" Either way, today was a Big Pig day. One of those Shakesperian tragedies. Funny, yet ends badly.
If you are from here, you all know that The Pig means the market or grocery store, and not necessarily the Piggly Wiggly. but most likely.
Piggly Wiggly had an ill fated Big on the Pig advertising campaign a while back. Everyone shortened it to Big Pig. Or you get big at the Pig. Not a big success, so far as marketing strategies go.
So last week, the Pig had one of those BOGO sales on my Lean Cuisine Paninis that I like so much. (Buy One Get One free) so trying to pinch pennies (until they squeal), I took full advantage of this sale and even took a couple of dozen to store at my sister's big commercial freezer at her house. Well, today the freezer went *kapoot* as did my Paninis. so much for saving money.
Today I made my last trip before the holidays to the Pig. So Meemee and I pop out of the car, and we are greeted by the friendly lady in the car next to us. She offered my her buggy. Truth be told, I thought I would take it in just to help her out, seeing as she was limping. Holiday spirit and all. Well, Meemee hopped on the front of the buggy went flying down the pavement hill like a toboggan hitting ice. All I saw was Meemee's giant hot pink hair bow on her little Charleston bobbed haircut waving in the brisk air. Then as she rounded the corner at the bottom, I see that she is screaming with glee, her eyes sparkling like Christmas lights and some cars heading right for her little basket of a grocery cart. She was heading right into traffic. Thankfully, the store manager snatched her and the cart like a cowboy wrangling cattle at a rodeo. But I nearly had a heart attack. and threw my back out as I tripped down the sidewalk.
Not the best Big Pig day. And, I did see a Pig fly today. But, hopefully never again.
