The Land of 1,000 Bags

You may not know it to look at me, but I am a bag lady.
I must own 1 million bags. Ok, well, thousands at least.

If you are a mom, you will know what I am talking about.

Currently, we have packed 2 ballet bags, 1 beach bag, 1 jazz bag, 2 swim bags, and a "Mom, I'm bored" bag. I keep one bag packed so that when we have to dash, it is easier on me.   One activity, One bag.

Naturally, with all the waiting I do as a mom, I have a little bag or 2 for me as well. A reading bag, and a creative bag.

Today I am switching out my creative bag from paper to yarn. I just love knitting and crocheting in the summertime.

I struggle with technology.  So when I figure something out, I am full of pride. 

I found out how to record a video that shows your computer screen.  So I made a super quick and easy video for unKit that shows how easy it is to order.

I won't mention how long it took me to figure it out.  The important part is that I did.

Hello World!

I feel like I am finally back to the land of the living.

Accounting deadlines are quiet for a while.  No big business consulting clients for now.

All the kids are well and back in school, finally.

Websites for Jump Create and unKit are finished, finally.  Well, mostly.

Hopefully, other than housework and shopping for the holidays, things are on maintainence only.  Hopefully.

Maria was our last sick chick to fly the coop.  She was so excited to be back to school that she ran around in circles in the front yard before climbing into the backseat of the station wagon.  Her big fear about returning was that the kids would have missed her so much that she is going to get bum rushed when she walks into the classroom.  She wore shorts under her dress just in case.  Although Audrey and I are not sure what "just in Case" means.  Silly little bunny rabbit.

Katie and Audrey are working hard on her part of the Nutcracker with the Russian Ballet.   So proud of them.

So what is going on with you?

I am seriously thinking of teaching a class or two.  I really miss teaching.  I mostly miss my friends and students.  Send me an email so that we can catch up.

Home Again

So happy to be home after a wonderful CHA trip. 

We found some great new stuff.  I cannot wait for it to come into the store.  Elise, Mary and I have so much to share with everyone.  New techniques, tools, goodies, and much more.  We have big plans for special events and classes too.  It appears Elise is already back at the store hard at work and putting things on sale.   If you did not get her latest email let either her or me know and we will make sure you get one.

I am downloading pictures on Flickr and will share as soon as it is complete.

Hold on to your little Flocked hats, folks

this just in....

Flocking is big.  Huge!  It is {hot}    Those jars of flocking are popping up all over.  If you don't know what flocking is, it is like crushed velvet.  It is pretty popular on specialty papers.  and now they are selling loose flocking that has unlimited versatility.   I took Mary's flocking class on National Scrapbook day.  My first flock.

Alcohol Inks

Rain dots keep falling on my head

Sorry could not resist the reference to this song.

Lead fiskateer, May Flaum, sent me some fabulous rain dots and this is the layout I created with them.

I use rain dots much like brads or eyelets.  I strategically place them for balance and emphasis.  See that little raindot atop the ribbon on the bow?   Rain dots are so much fun!  and really a good deal for how many you get in one package.

Go green

Earth Day is fast approaching.  What are you doing to go green?

Some great ideas for crafting are re-using items that would be thrown away for a project.  Remember those egg carton creations from your school days?  I recently took some old vinyl albums and re-purposed them into scrapbook albums.   My favorite find is corrugated cardboard.  I love its texture.

Another great idea is to go green when shopping at your local scrapbook store.  Bring your own bag or container.  I love bringing my Cropper Hopper sleeve or those plastic 12 by 12 boxes.  It saves my paper from getting bent better than the shopping bags do.

If you shop online, "carpool" with a friend.  Get together with a friend to place an order.  Not only will you save fossil fuel, you will save on shipping.  $$$$
